Autumn’s Succumb

Autumn’s leaves are falling now
Red, yellow, orange and brown
Crisp and clean, they slate the earth
like crystal teardrops from a cloud

"Autumn Lake" by CarolAnn Bailey-Lloyd

Such beauty in fall’s montage
simple green that turns to fade
Youthful Spring and Summer’s dying
in Autumn morning’s gentle haze

And how the time, it closes in
as does Summer surrender to fall
The last green leaf, clings to life’s branch
like a breath trying to cajole
nature’s final request
just one more day
another day to exist
and another day to bid farewell.
